For me this song is about a deep friendship, but one that has to endure through a great distance apart from one another. Life is hard, and my future not certain. But if I make it through the pain of existence I'll meet you again, perhaps when you've forgotten your own name and all faces look the same to you. It's like a saying goodbye. When you know you won't see that person again for a very long time. You're very hurt but you still love them. But it also has a very romantic feel to it. I'll meet you, when you wake up - in the light, if you wait for me. On the other side, suggests the afterlife - the light as in "stay away from the light!" That's probably way off - so may just what I was going through myself at the time when I first fell in love with this song. |
