i believe the song is talking about 2 parts of the singers life, being young and his mother going through depression, and taking her own life. the father, unable to tell that his wife was in pain, becomes depressed and and trying to take care of his son, the young child we are fallowing. the child, not understanding everything, but understanding that his mother is gone and his dad is sad, wants to help as much as the young boy can. he does not want his dad to hurt. the second part is when the boy has become a man, with a son of his own. the now grandfather lets his depression take over him and decides to fallow his wife. feeling the same guilt his father did about his mother, he realizes they were both oblivious to the people they loves pain. but instead of letting depression take over him and dying, he decides to live on with his life, not letting the sadness passed onto him, take over his life. |
