This is my personal interpretation It seems its a message from him to the girl who he is interested in. Matt seems almost heartbroken and he just wants the girl to notice him, just him. Almost like a cry, for the girl to care. He has convinced himself that the relationship will go nowhere so he's giving himself a pep talk. In a way he is sabotaging the relationship himself as he doesn't fight for the girl either, he rather 'runaway'. It feels like they are both emotionally in love but don't seem to work it out when it comes to real life. PS when I first heard the song I thought the line 'But she keeps you in awe, keeps you insane.' When i first heard the song I thought it said 'but she keeps you warm keeps you safe.' hehe Amazing song. |
