Elvis Costello – Accidents Will Happen Lyrics 6 years ago
EC explains the song in his autobiography. He has a guilty fling with an Arizona cab driver, then goes back to his Tucson hotel and bangs the song out. He writes: “Accidents is a song about a straying lover struggling to tell the truth and face the consequences. I changed every “I” to “we,” so as to share the blame that was entirely my own, and then changed “I” to “he” to further cover my tracks. This was pop music, not confession.”

Elliott Smith – Bled White Lyrics 10 years ago
@[MysteriousMrM:6298] I think the journalistic interpretation is a bit too detached, it drains the emotion from the song. You can't take Elliott out of the song, not with lines like "drinks all night to take away this curse, but it makes me feel much worse." If he's reporting on anything it's himself and he's tired of the same old story.

Big Star – Blue Moon Lyrics 10 years ago
Every song on Big Star Third is an exploration of Alex Chilton's relationship with Lesa Aldridge. This is the sweetest love song on the record. For the flip side, listen to Holocaust.

Big Star – Nightime Lyrics 10 years ago
Alex Chilton wrote this song about his girlfriend Lesa Aldridge's first experiences in New York City. Lesa was beautiful and brilliant, but as drug addled and unhinged as Chilton in those days. The song goes back and forth between Lesa's and Alex's perspective. At first she loved the people watching, but as the weather grew colder, she felt that everyone was watching her every move and it freaked her out ... she begged Chilton to take her back to Memphis.

Elliott Smith – No Name #3 Lyrics 10 years ago
Many of Smith's earlier songs had lyrics borrowed from his high school friend Garrick Duckler and I believe this is one of them. The lack of specificity is highly un-Smith like, although the song is somewhat reminiscent of Big Star's Nighttime, which Smith later covered.
