I feel it's about the terrible feeling of finding out that you've fallen in love with someone who's wrong for you or otherwise unattainable and that makes you lonely instead of happy. "I'm not my age" could mean you're feeling like a teenager having a crush again or that your crush is figuratively from an other age considering life situation. Literally this would be falling in love with someone who is older than you and that it might even be mostly one-sided. It's tough to get "sleep at night" thinking about this person all the time or trying not to feel your heart burst whenever that person "calls your name", so it makes you want to stick around whenever this person is near and "not to dissappear". Everyone knows that staying away from a person physically and in your thoughts is the only way to dull feelings for someone, but it's "not easy to feel this strange" and stay away. In the bridge there is some hope that what if the other person is thinking about you the exact same way "or maybe it's you, were born too soon" and that the feeling could be mutual. There's some optimism that two wrongs could make it right, when it's not one-sided, maybe it could work? Overall I think it's a happy song about sadness. Love can definitely make you super happy or super sad, just like this song. I love this song dearly and it's so relatable! |
