Puscifer – The Arsonist Lyrics 9 years ago
To me this song is about someone who is suffering from the consequences of his own mistakes. Feeling alone after losing people to be more precise.

“Fire, fire, the bridge is on fire
Burning away your last connection
Fire, fire, our bridge is on fire
Your social skills resemble arson“

Burning bridges means eliminating any possibilities of return. The social skills of the protagonist (let's call him Beavis from now on) seem to have him left alone and without any friends to return to.

“You seem okay with this
So deleterious
Remorse for you is not an option“

Beavis is stubborn and not willing to apologise even. He won't show no remorse, considering it a weakness, even though he is clearly feeling bad as one of the following lines will show.

“Beavis sure do love his matches“

One of the protagonists of the well-known tv show “Beavis and Butthead“ seemed to be obsessed with fire and arson making the name a fitting choice for the Beavis of this song.

“Choking on the smoke from the fire you’ve started
Choking on the ash from the bridges you’ve burned“

This is where we can certainly say that Beavis is in fact the one suffering the most from his own mistakes. The bridges he has burned/relationships he destroyed have led to him being alone and depressed. Still he won't admit that he was wrong.

Marilyn Manson – The Fight Song Lyrics 10 years ago
"The Fight Song" is another hate anthem by Manson. It relates to the content of the "Love Song", showing Manson´s point of view.

"Nothing suffocates you more than
The passing of everyday human events
Isolation is the oxygen mask you make
Your children breath into survive"

Society is always shocked by reality and deny it´s existence. Parents are isolating their children to make them survive. This is related to the fact that the parents of America are always telling their children, that they will be kings of a great big white world whem they are older. They just deny self-made reality.

"But I'm not a slave to god
That doesn't exist
And I'm not a slave to world
That doesn't give a shit"

Marilyn Manson states that he is not isolated from reality and that he isn´t forced to believe in god and the American dreamworld. He is not denying what happens and is not afraid of speaking the truth.

"And when we were good
You just closed your eyes
So when we are bad
We'll scar your minds"

Society uses Mansons honesty to make him the scapegoat. Whenever he has done something good, it wasn´t important, but when he sang about the ugly truth, people said he scarred their mind. This relates to Columbine, when he was made the scapegoat for crippling the assassins minds.

"You'll never grow up to be a big-rock-star-
Celebrated-victim-of-your-fame"

This line is dedicated to the children of America that are taught that they will become a "big-rock-star-celebrated-victim-of-your-fame". He tells them that this is a lie and that the world they are a "slave" to "doesn´t give a shit".

"They'll just cut our wrists like cheap coupons
and say that death was on sale today"

This refers to the worth of a single human being in America. If you aren´t the so-called rockstar your death is not important. The line is also a hint at the death of John F. "Jack" Kennedy, whose death was commercialized. This topic appears in the following lines too:

"The death of one is a tragedy
The death of millions is just a statistic"

While JFK´s death was commercialized and he became an idol and a rocl-star due to his assassination, it doesn´t matter when millions of "unimportant" people die. It´s no tragedy. It´s just a statistic. This is also the topic of the track "Lamb Of God".

Well, that´s it. Sorry for possible language mistakes, I´m from germany :)

Marilyn Manson – The Love Song Lyrics 10 years ago
The Love Song it about the general state of mind in the United States.

"I got a crush on a pretty pistol
Should I tell her that I feel this way?
Father told us to be faithful"

This means that the american society is really into guns, but this causes a conflict with their positive behavior towards church and religion. While the father (religion) preaches to be faithful (peaceful and stuff) the american way of life preaches the usage of guns/weapons.

"I've got love songs in my head
That are killing us away"

This line points out that the reason for tragedies such as the Columbine massacre are the "love songs" society has stuck in their mind. The love songs are a symbol for the governments way of praising the ownership of guns. One of these love songs is sung in the refrain:

"Do you love your guns, god and government?"

This is the typical image of the American Way Of Life. The government uses the ownership of weapons to make society elect them, though they know that the legality of owning guns is dangerous. The same is made with god/religion. The government acts as if they are god-given, making god and jesus kind of rock stars. They use god and guns to legitimate their leadership.

"She tells me I'm a pretty bullet
I'm gunna be a star some day
Mother says that we should look away
She tells me I'm a pretty bullet
An Imitation Christ"

The line is about children that are taught, that they will become famous or rock-stars (star/Imitation Christ) when they are grown-up. These expectations can never be realised. The verse can be related to tragedies like the Columbine massacre. The high expectations of the boys weren´t realised, but devastated by reality. This can be regarded as another reason for the shooting.

To conclude: "The Love Song" is a parody on the american state of mind: It is completely allowed to own guns, children are taught that they were better than the rest and everybody wonders why Columbine happened. The title "Love Song" points out how naive society is. Instead of realising that it´s their own fault, they are looking for a scapegoat. In the case of Columbine MM was this scapegoat, since it was much easier to blame him, than to accept the real reasons.

Marilyn Manson – Valentine's Day Lyrics 10 years ago
I guess the song is NOT about a realationship, but about loving the death.

The "Celebritarianism" is one of Holy Wood's main topics. Many celebrities are loved for their death, not for their life.

"She was the color of TV"

The color of TV (when switching to a dead (!) channel) is grey/white/black and colorless. The line means that somebody is dead and refers to the quotation "The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel" by William Gibson.

"Although Holy Wood was sad
They'd remember this as Valentines day"

The line points out that when a tragedy happens the society remember's it as a big event. Valentine's Day is a symbol of love and the tragedy is remembered as a event to celebrate and love (the passed one).

"Flies are waiting"

Flies are known for eating cadavours and the line means that flies (society) are always waiting for a death they can use and celebrate. The symbol of the flies appears in GodEatGod ("Before the flies") and Torniquet ("Flies will lay their eggs") too.

"In the shadow of the valley of death
They slit our wrists and send us to heaven"

This one is pretty obvious. In Holy Wood the dead ones are not only praised, the society wants celebrities dead. People want tragedys. The line refers to the The Fight Song and the verse "They just cut our wrists like cheap coupons and say: that death was on sale today". Meaning of both lines: Death is commercialized by society.

"I saw that pregnant girl today
She didn't know that it was dead inside
Even though it was alive
Some of us are really born to die"

The girl is no specific character, the line is just symbolic. Manson refers to the destiny of every human: Death. The child itself is important too:
A newborn is usually loved, but still it has to die someday. The line is another mash up of death and love in relation to societies desire of tragedy and death.

Any further ideas? ^^

Marilyn Manson – Cryptorchid Lyrics 10 years ago
"Each time I make my mother cry an
angel dies and falls from heaven"

This is about a young boy that is taught to believe in Christianity. The line refers to the ten commandments, especially the fourth rule (praise your parents and so on).

"when the boy is still a worm it's hard to learn the number seven"

The number 7 is representing the essential human being, since the 4 is the christian symbol for the body and the materialistic things in general while the 3 represents the soul/spirit.
The line means that the boy can not develope his own personality when he is the worm (the albums metaphor for a naive person blinded by religion/media/government).

The title of the song strenghtens this interpretation since a Cryptorchid is the professional term for a missing testicle of a newborn boy. This can be interpreted as a missing part of the child, in this case a real personality.

To conclude:

This song is about the society forcing tmyoung children to believe things before they have the ability to create an own independent opinion.

You're welcome ^^
