| I believe Nessie was in the right track. It seems that this is about Mason at his first apartment after dropping out of school to pursue music. Understandably, he is poor and is ashamed to have this girl over that he really likes. He can do "nothing" to make his situation any better. His phone rings all day so he has things to do but nothing improves when he does them. His life just seems like a whole lot of nothing and he is embarrassed by it. This really hits home for me as I'm in my early twenties feeling I don't have a lot to show for it and that isn't exactly a feeling that's attractive to girls I'm interested in. This will always be one of my favorite mason songs. Hope this helps! | |
