In _The Long Hard Road out of Hell_, Manson's autobiography from '98, he spoke of going to these Christian revivals, his Christian school, etc. I believe the "Old Deceivers" are the televangelists and ministers that would 'heal' people etc. The "Young Believers" were his classmates, who really wanted to believe and swallowed all that stuff. An interesting Wikipedia blurb on Aldous Huxley's page in reference to the first verse: "Media coverage of Huxley's passing — as with that of the author C. S. Lewis — was overshadowed by the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on the same day. This coincidence was the inspiration for Peter Kreeft's book Between Heaven and Hell: A Dialog Somewhere Beyond Death with John F. Kennedy, C. S. Lewis, & Aldous Huxley." I think a lot of it has to do with the Church and christianity getting rammed down his throat early in his life and he's pointing out the hipocracy. |
