| Epica – The Quantum Enigma - Kingdom Of Heaven Part II Lyrics | 9 years ago |
|
First, sorry for my bad English. Here's my intepretation: The "quantum enigma" refers to a theory that questions whether what is around us really exists, or is it just a product of our perception. It is a revolutionary scientific theory because it directly contradicts materialism we assume by Newton's laws. "All your laws and the assumptions Leave them all behind" The song begins by telling us that what all we are about to hear is absolutely contradictory to what we think of as real and true. "There's no grounds for them right here where time can't go If we can't move on and keep all leaning on the past We will regret We can't get what we wish for" This tells us that, within the human learning, we need to go discarding outdated theories that attempt to explain how the universe actually works. Indeed, the study of History offers us the benefit of going learning from mistakes from the past. "New perceptions keep us inspired The quantum enigma" Quantum theory is a new way of seeing and understanding the universe, the search for truth and new knowledge is what keeps us going as a specie. "All the shadows and illusions We tend to believe Are creations of our own deceiving mind" Quantum theory suggests that everything knowable does not exist as real entities, but everything is being created as perceived by the human senses. Therefore, things we thought there are not actually exists. "If we can't let go and keep chasing satisfying needs We will not get How to forget our sapience" Same here, we need to let go of those old notions to give entry to more convincing and sustainable scientific explanations to know the truth. "When we will look around and see We will affect the energy When we observe by any means We will create reality" Remember when Aristotle said in his Metaphysics, that things "are, only as they are perceived by our senses"? Probably the old philosopher was more than 2300 years ahead of us. The most recent research suggests that the particles, namely electrons, change shape depending on whether they are influenced by our observation or not. Unlike what used to be thought, the movement of electrons is not absolutely predictable, since their nature is understood as a wave rather than a particle. Therefore, when observed that wave, it breaks its original shape and giving rise to forms and objects distinguishable for us, but unreal. Human senses are what creates reality, that recognize the external energy. "We will not find if we don't seek We will not know if we don't peek We cannot do if we don't be Facing our deadlock now This is our quantum enigma" ... But, of course, we will not understand this new reality if we still get stuck in thinking the universe is like a big predestined machine, rather than a great conciousness. "We'll ignite the fire That burns under the rain All that we desire Is to find our source again The meaning of life" In the end, the search for truth is what makes us rational beings, never satisfied with the weakest explanations about the behavior of nature and human itself. "Without a voice the soul is invisible in time and space" The most impressive verse of the entire song and probably the entire album. Nothing exists if we do not give it a voice. Nothing exists if we do not perceive it. So the outside world is real? Or the world, therefore, is inside of us? Where we live? Where we are? What are we? Are us unreal, too? "Each new discovery That we acclaim Brings us much closer To reach our aim So we will finally see All of the universe Exists by being observed Expanding every day As we reach further" Self-explanatory, I think. The more we investigate, the more we are closer to the truth. And if we find the truth, finally human will understand how the universe works. Not inconsiderable, since humans have tried to reach this goal for more than 2,600 years ago. It seems they are telling us that the ultimate goal of human beings is to understand how the world in which we live works. We have been given the ability to reason and understanding, so we must use it to attain knowledge. |

| Stream of Passion – A War Of Our Own Lyrics | 10 years ago |
| Hmm, somehow this song is about two lovers or so, who are hidden because there are war outside. The war of their own is to survive behind those walls, and the singer is trying to protect her lover at all costs. It's quite simple. | |

I really love this prologue. The voice is exactly like a real storyteller. It is the prelude to the history of a bloody war between Celts and Romans. |

This song is about a legendary celtic king who was named Albicatus. It is said that he unified the tribes once ago. There is not much evidence about his existance, though. |
