Mumford & Sons – White Blank Page Lyrics 8 years ago
So this is more than likely not the intended meaning, but well every great work speaks to people differently. To me, I get the feeling of someone who is gay and is struggling with all the burdens society presses down on them.

So it starts with:
"Can you lie next to her
And give her your heart, your heart
As well as your body
And can you lie next to her
And confess your love, your love
As well as your folly"
Which sounds like can you lie next to her and love her? If you're gay, you can love the someone of the opposite sex, but well you don't love them body and soul. So even when you lie next to them, can you really love them?

And that brings on the guilt of a "sin" they can't control when the song moves to the line:
"And can you kneel before the king
And say I'm clean, I'm clean"
The king might be in reference to say religion. They have the "unclean" impulses that is deemed as unclean and horrible by a church. So there's often inner struggles that you have these natural impulses but can you claim to be clean?

Then you move into:
"In loving you with my whole heart
Oh tell me now, where was my fault
In loving you with my whole heart"
Which can be taken as they fell in love with someone of the same sex but they can't be in love with them. It's "sinful" and the other person as well as society judges them. It creates this inner angst.

"You did not think when you sent me to the brink, to the brink"
Now we have that inner angst from all the rejection and judgement boiling down into what we see in modern day as heightened levels of depression and suicide rates in lgbt communities because of the discrimination they suffer. The prejudices and hate that people might not even recgonise in themselves stings and wounds every day and it becomes overwhelming.

"Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life"
Now they are seeking that truth of who are they. Are they this sinful being that feels natural but everyone hates? Is it ok to be such? Are they damned to hell? They want the truth. They're crying out for a truth they can understand and follow with their whole life.

So like I said this is what it says to me from my personal experience. I doubt it was the original intent, but I love this song. It speaks loudly to me. Good art is one that speaks many messages and touches everyone where they need it.

Gungor – The Fall Lyrics 10 years ago
This is the fall of man, when Eve took the bite from the apple and man fell away from the Garden on Eden. The chorus 'How long? How long will You wait?
How long? How long β€˜til You save us all? Save us all
Turn Your face to me (x4)' is asking how long must we wait until we be saved from the world our sins have created. And then saying turn your face to me so that either it is god saying look at him and love him again as an answer to the question or man asking god to look at them in order to save them.

Of Monsters And Men – Love Love Love Lyrics 10 years ago
So many others think it is about one breaking another's heart, and I can see that and in some ways agree. However, to me I don't see quite that. Perhaps by love, they don't mean the kind of love between a couple, but a general love that friends and family share among each other. What if it is a broken girl who has someone who wants to help her, but she doesn't know how to love even though love would be the only way to fix her brokenness?

The beauty of good songs is it can have many different takes on it from situation or just thoughts. I can see how it is also a girl who broke someone's heart. But it could be anything, since love is such a broad term for so many things.
