@[Me:2441]&You_Tonight I totally agree with this comment with one exception: Tense. As in: He actually hasn't fully given up. Examine the tense: --"I'm giving up on you" It's "I am giving" and not "I have given" --"I'll be the one if you want me to" It's "I will" not "I would have" The tense then does change some: --"Anywhere, I would have followed you" suggests that perhaps he can't now, but perhaps eludes more to the feelings he has than the actual ability. --"And I'm saying goodbye" might be the final word on the matter if he weren't pleading for a response. If you're reading this thread you're here because in some way this song resonated with you. For me, I read more hope into it, more "this is one last go before I give up" than "I'm giving up and I want a response". But maybe that's because it's closer to what I'm hoping for in real life. Either way, great song. |
