I seem to be the only one with this interpretation because so far, I have read that most commentators believe it is a song about espionage, secret agents and hit men. I see it as something entirely different. I believe it could be about a man who is having an illicit affair with a woman (or even possibly a man). He's sitting in a lonely hotel room and his connection (his lover) doesn't' make it to meet him and he feels as though fate has turned its back on him. He is sitting there waiting. Maybe his connection (lover) is tired of taking chances {potentially getting caught). There is a storm on the loose. Sirens in his head. Wrapped up in silence - - He is alone and left with his own turbulent thoughts about the potential end of his relationship. All circuits are dead could be a reference to not being able to get through to or reach his lover. "Cannot decode my whole life spins into a frenzy," He cannot make sense of it and his life feels like it's out of control. Steppin' into the twilight zone could be a reference to being in an altered state of mind at the thought of being abandoned by his lover. The beacon being moved under moon and star could he a reference to him no longer having any direction. Where am I to go now that I've gone too far. he took the relationship to its limits and now he doesn't know where to go from here. Soon you will come to know, when the bullet hits the bone. Could be a metaphor for what it will feel like once it sinks in that the relationship is over. It will hurt so much like the pain that is felt when a bullet hits the bone. This may be far fetched but I always enjoy reading other peoples unique interpretations of songs and thought I would share mine. I'm falling down a spiral Destination unknown Double crossed messenger, all alone Can't get no connection Can't get through where are you Well the night weighs heavy On his guilty mind This far from the borderline When the hit-man comes He knows damn well He has been cheated And he says |
