My understanding of the lyrics (one of many possible interpretations): "Hello my friend we meet again It's been a while, where should we begin Feels like forever Within my heart are memories Of perfect love that you gave to me Oh, I remember" - He is standing over his friend's grave. He talks, reminisces...it's a powerful memory. "When you are with me, I'm free I'm careless, I believe Above all the others we'll fly This brings tears to my eyes My sacrifice" - He is alone, lonely and contemplating suicide - he is contemplating joining his friend, to see him/her again. His sacrifice is the ultimate sacrifice - death. Above others they will fly ! (He obviously believes in afterlife or is at least thinking about the possibility of afterlife. ) "We've seen our share of ups and downs Oh how quickly life can turn around In an instant It feels so good to reunite Within yourself and within your mind Let's find peace there" - I doesn't matter how many ups and downs they had, then life turned around in an instant - his friend was gone. But he is happy, his heart feels good in the thought of seeing his friend again, finding peace from suffering. Perhaps soon. I just want to say Hello again. - In heaven he will. That is his sacrifice. |
