I hear this song as being about a man trying to secretly ("Your can look outside your window
He doesn't have to know") but gently (("We can talk awhile, baby. We can take it nice and slow") woo a woman who is in a toxic relationship.
There are allusions to abuse both physical ("Blue morning Wrapped in strands of fist and bone") and emotional ("Does he tell you when you're sorry? Does he tell you when you're wrong?").
Even the title of the song is a double entendre which alludes to both physical abuse (murder in the homicidal sense) and to loneliness (murder as in a flock of one). |

I've always interpreted this song to be a guy trying to delicately ("We can talk awhile, baby. We can take it nice and slow") seduce a woman in an abusive ("Blue morning Blue morning Wrapped in strands of fist and bone") and controlling ("Does he tell you when you're sorry? Does he tell you when you're wrong?") relationship. |

@[ShorT:2941] What fascinates me about this song is the two versions. The album version feels to me like desperation. The Storytellers version feels like resignation, which is a completely different sentiment. Both are haunting but in completely different ways. I like them both but the live version is one of my top few favorite songs of any artist of all time. |

@[lyprulz:2243] This is definitely my least favorite CC song too (though Ghost Train is good). New Frontier never fails to remind me of a Duran Duran song. |
