| I think this song is about the writer's relationship with his/her primary childhood caregiver/parent. There are references to milk and coddling. I think the writer has stopped communication with the caregiver. "Is it easier for you now that you don't have to love me?" It seems likely the parent was a dying drug addict, as there are references to her being drugged, a funeral silk, and drooling rain. "And still you stay with me, like a knife in my brain" seems to refer to the fact that a child's brain is epigenetically developed by experiences with caregivers. | |
