Les Misérables – A Little Fall Of Rain Lyrics 10 years ago
The saddest thing about this song is that it's not actually talking about rain. Immediately before the song, Marius sings, "I feel there's something wet upon your hair/ Eponine, you're hurt, you need some help/ O God, it's everywhere." This is obviously talking about her blood draining from her. It's important that he never says the word "blood," because Eponine's response is," Don't you fret...A little fall of rain can hardly hurt me now." She either honestly believes or is pretending that her blood is nothing more than a little drizzle from the rain. I tend to lean more to the latter option as she seems to notice the irony of the "rain" being "heaven-blessed." In summation, the entire song is about Eponine and Marius pretending that she is not injured as Eponine fades before Marius's eyes. The heartbreak of her death is that the writers have her die as she is singing a line about new life. Excuse me, I've got something in my eye...
