This is about a man trying to move past a broken relationship however he continually flips his view. Maybe we should be (dont fade away) / maybe it's best we're not (please fade away) The first verse he speaks of memories both real and imagined and not wanting to lose them. Second verse he is tortured by his feelings for another and wishes them to stop. the chorus: every time he sees her it resets his heart and he's back to square one. 3rd verse we're back to normal perspective how ugly the relationship was. 4th verse thoughts ran away again and he longs once more. He cant break her spell (rather the cycle of his feelings) "shut down your system" -He realizes he cannot move on until his feelings are resolved. |
