Regina Spektor – I Cut Off My Hair Lyrics 10 years ago
I think this song is about someone who meets someone they broke up with a long time ago--my interpretation is very literal.
She starts out at a party, (I'm not sure what the in my dream would do in this) but and she sees him, drinking, and panics, therefore, 'peeing her pants', and he runs after her. She sees him, remembering things, (such as when he was beat up), showing the difference between the two, (one wearing rags, the other pointe shoes.) They get back together, for a one night stand, and when it says "I tried to lay next to you but you hit the snooze" she is trying to just relax with him, lay and not use him, just appreciate him but he won't and she keeps trying. (hence doing the same things over and over) Maybe she starts self harming and he doesn't notice. The don't you ever mince me? part is her is talking to herself, asking, "doesn't he ever miss me?" and he walks in and she changes it quickly, "don't you ever mince meat?" She tries to go back to her home with her mom but she keeps returning to him, where they keep going places and just barely talking.
So basically she is trying to get him to appreciate her again but she doesn't. I don't know if this is it, but this is what I think of when I hear it.
