Essentially on the surface this seems like a song for a girl or something. But I think it's about Ian and about how the rest of the band want him to stay in the band, to stay in his hometown, to stay in his home, to stay with them, to stay sane, to stay the man they grew up with, hell to stay normal. And after everything he's done they can't keep him the man they once knew, and they can't keep him with them because he's already gone. They second verse could be about how they try to get on with their lift but they can't, because they are haunted by what he has done. Don't get me wrong I love this song, and the band.
