Hello everyone! First time writing on this site which by the way I love and it's been very useful to me. Please, bear with me if my english isn't perfect it's just my third language. That said, here it is my interpretation: I totally agree with Maplestrip about the fact that this seems to be an "encouraging song", but personally I think that this song maybe tells us something about the story of the band and how they felt and at the same time they manage to encourage who is facing the same problems and thinks he/she will never be successful but they do it sharing their own experience, sort of a "I feel you, bro/sis, I've been through the same, even if you don't see the results after all your efforts don't give up, just keep trying. It worked for me, that's all I can say. Hope it will work out for you too". As for the lyrics, to me it's like he, the author/singer, is talking to himself. He tries to convince himself that he got a talent and "something" to show the world but he actually is very insecure about it so he does a sort of encouraging speech to himself. But he can't really believe it, so for me the verses "But I think I'm gonna die before I see my time" are referring to this, to the fact that he's frustrated that his talent seems to be ignored or not recognized by anyone (except for us who like to listen to this song and talk about it ;P) so he thinks he wil never see his dreams fulfilled. |
