This is a traditional Christmas carol, with Los Campesinos' own verses added to the end. I interpret this song as a brother and sister who don't see each other very often getting back together again at Christmas time; one is perhaps the holly and the other the ivy. |

This song references several others on the album. "In silent screams, and wildest dreams" refer to 'Out of the Woods' and 'Wildest Dreams', respectively. I think the "Clear blue water, High tide, came and brought you in" is another reference to 'Clean'. And the chorus is a riff on the idea of "If you love someone, set them free; if they come back they’re yours". |
