I have been listening to Genesis for 40 years....I love them....very complex. I believe that the early Genesis has a pretty consistant theme of good vs. evil....God against Satin. I believe that Supper's Ready begins with a modern day couple going about their evening routine, but just outside, in their own back yard, a war between good and evel is about to explode, just as in the book of Revolations. I have listened to this song hundreds of times...it's one of my favorites. I believe that this song is about the the supernatural spiritual things going on out there right now that we humans do not see...there is a battle going on at this very moment between God and Satin. The very end of this song always blows me away when God comes back to take his children home. Love it! |
