I have been absolutely in love with this song from a D/s perspective for a while. The story I hear is a man willingly, eagerly giving his submission to a woman he loves for a night ("should have worshiped her sooner" suggests that they have been at this for a while, but that he may not have fallen in love with her until after the first spark of dominance from her speaks to this part of him). He worships her, taking pain from her hands to cleanse his spirit, caught in the heady hedonism of sex and kink. Loving it, reveling in it. This power exchange, done in ways society tells us may be 'sick'. But the outside world's judgment is gone in this place, this night. The masculine pressures are gone ("no masters or kings when the ritual begins") and the only opinion that matters is hers. His innocent heart is safe in her hands, maybe for the first time in his adult life. I get an almost amazed sense from him as he talks of starving faithful, that his eyes are open to what he has hungered for, which other people have looked down their nose at over the years and kept him from. And I read "deathless death" as a half-step away from "la petite mort", soooo, there's that, too. ^_~ |
