Okay so i get really angry when people say that this band is just a bunch of druggies with no meaning behind what they write about. They have such well-written lyrics! And use novels, movies and history into their songs (for instance "Taro", which was based upon two historical photographers). I would say this isnt about sex or drugs, but "The song is about Gus getting beaten up by someone on Southampton Common and the adrenaline he felt" as comment nr 1 so very well explained. They use metaphors and depictions that are well thought through and just amazing. It therefore becomes an entire song bc they're able to make a 5 second incident into a 4 minute song. |
