Gah, this song just brings tears to my eyes. The themes of love and loss. Regret and joy are so prevalent. If you really want to understand this song, go watch the music video, it is beautiful and really drives home the point of this song. |

These guys were brought up in a Chrisitian home, and I happen to know who knows his family. He was specifically told that Matt and Brad are coming back to God, and from that I can see that this song is very clearly about the futility of fighting against what he knows to be the truth. Specifically in the chorus and the second verse, he is clearly conflicted about what he should do but knows what the truth is. Also, the song could be about duality as well. The first verse is seemingly very cynical, and then the second verse he essentially states that he knows the truth, but he can't really deal with it. |
