Found this about the first part of the lyrics, that seem to be in old (French) Provençal, written in Roumanille spelling. Mother, the bells are wobbling Tonight, wobble-wobbling [bell sound], The sheep, the ewes ring/tinkle. Where does this racket come from? The cat jumps in its (lit. "the") basket, Fido barks in the fields And the rats in the hayloft Wallow like bandits. These Provençal lyrics are sung to the tune to a 19th century song called "Les bœufs" that you can hear sung by the Dutch-born baritone Henri Albers at the first link of that page. Gathered all of the above looking for the song on the forums and archived pages. I hope it helps someone, someday. |

I think that this song is about a siren (then you touch her and you can't break free, 'till you see your fate written there in her eyes), or the search for the perfect girl who's an image lost in the fantasy. Also, Ariel is a Hebrew name coming from the Angel Ariel, whose name means "lion of God". The chore is sung by Candice Night, fabulous voice! |

@[kirbsta:1403] Greensleeves, from what we know from History, appears to be Anne Boleyn (who lived from 1501 or 1507 to may 19th 1536, in the 16th century), and was married to Henri the VIIth of England, who was known to be a tyrant toward his wives. This song may be talking about her and about the will people had to free the good queen. Also, note that Elisabeth the Ist is Anne Boleyn's daughter. |
