Although this song is clearly about dying, the nature of that death is unclear. I suspect it might be death by suicide due to stating that he was the "black sheep of the family" right after saying goodbye to his father. |

I think that the last verse clarifies what this song is about. On Fridays, she dresses up and her mood improves. These changes make him fall in love with her all over again. During the rest of the week, she is moody and probably doesn't look as nice. This is likely related to work, school, or some other recurring weekday activity that drains her. When he sees her in all her glory on Fridays, he is overwhelmed by that and remembers why he loves her. |
