i think his music was full of depth but also ambiguous. i feel as if i read somewhere he identified more behaviorally with animals more than he did humans... which might explain all the animals in his lyrics. "im full of bees that died at sea" sometimes bees fly to closely situated lands separated by the ocean to look for pollen and score. sometimes when they are too old to make it back, or water gets on their wings, they die in the ocean. maybe he was saying "so many things in me were trying to do their duty and get back to my source but i/they didn't make it" "im a bog of poison frogs" could be like him saying, "im full of life, but all that life inside of me kills everything around me" "im the dog that ate your birthday cake" could be "i only tried to enjoy myself but i didnt know that i ruined something so important and i feel so guilty" this is completely biased based on personal angst and knowledge that mark died how he did. thank you for the music mark. |
