Phil Collins – No Way Out Lyrics 10 years ago
This is my first song I've commented on, but I'm pretty sure what this song is all about.....being........the patience of forgiveness.

He realizes that he keeps hurting people no matter what he does. But he knows that he can't change the past, but only the present and how it'll affect the future. The only thing he can do is ask for forgiveness and hope he'll be forgiven, but if he doesn't receive forgiveness SOON, it's just gonna turn into a violent storm ("There's no shelter from the storm inside of me") that he can't control inside of him.

Throughout the verses, he's basically explaining all that's happened because of what happened, and how that has affected him and possibly his future. In the choruses (up until the last one) he explains that he can't see any other options, that there is "No Way Out", ("I know I CAN'T be free, But I CAN'T see another way, I CAN'T face another day") without knowing that he has to go through each day constantly waiting to be forgiven.

HOWEVER, it isn't until the bridge that he finally asks for forgiveness and basically begs for it and he finally receives it. ("I know its hard but you
found somehow, to look into your heart, and to forgive me now"). And he's so happy that he got it ("I can't believe the words I hear, it's like an answer to a prayer")

In the final chorus he's explaining how relieved and happy he his to FINALLY be forgiven from what he's done. ("I SEE the path, I CAN SEE the path, I SEE the future, I SEE the path from this dark place, I SEE the future")

This song, I think, is all about the growth and change of someone who has done something wrong and is willing to do anything to get forgiveness and the only way he can do that is if he sees the faults he has done and explains how bad he feels about it.

Overall I really like this song cause it definitely goes along with something in my own life and it's absolutely perfect for the situation. That......and it's just a really well written apologetic song.
