@[blue:1213].painted.tears I agree, I used to think he was a man as well. The "lost" verse posted by TrustNo121000 obviously paints a different picture of the situation, but the song always reminded me of a story told in "Anne's House of Dreams" (from the Anne of Green Gables series). A schoolmaster is waiting for his bride to make the voyage from England to Canada, but the ship gets delayed for weeks and he almost loses hope - thankfully, he gets a happy ending, unlike our narrator. |
