As much as that phrase "I can't breathe" would seem to fit current events, I'm more likely to believe that this song is about the pain a son (or daughter) has when disappointing their mother, even if your standards don't necessarily line up. It's really heartbreaking, especially "you did your heart no favors when you taught me to crawl" |
