The follow-up to "The Mess." This is a masterpiece in my opinion. The two of them have calmed down now....a little, and feeling a little more fragile. Her voice echoes in his mind recalling past arguments and situations... he's trying to explain his view on things, and she's tired of listening to his crap. The flow from the last song to this song is amazing. This song is about (IMO) trying to express yourself and feeling uncertain/ or bad about it...like, kicking yourself...you're saying things about it all but not realizing you have a part in it too. "I wasn't supposed to feel ashamed" That's a guy just starting to realize he could be the jerk. He might not be to blame, but maybe could have done things differently. |

| "How does it feel to feel to be on the fault line?" An amazing lyric. For me, this song is about that 2nd last argument before the end, anger on both sides finally coming to the surface. Venting. "These walls are stained with your moments" ...It could be taken so many ways...casting shadows...I can't forget you....not being able to get over issues...etc. "This world is never enough" ....so much anger has never sounded so awesome... "So fucking through with it" Yep, that nails it. "I'm not going to forgive you for the the things that you've done" is so definitive and honest and real that...It sounds like an actual argument. | |
