I don't think this is as much a love song as much as a stalker song. The lines that give it away to me are; 'We live happily in my fantasy.' Meaning they are might not love together or be happy in real life. 'My alarm clock rings, I wake up in denial.' He can't accept that the fantasy is not true. 'You and me, we were meant to be.' A delusion held by many who want someone. There are quite a few more (e.g. 'lock of hair' - reminds me a bit of Patrick Bateman lol) which give into it being more like an 'obsession' and not actual love. However this is a super catchy and fun song, showing the dreams and desires of an obsessed man from an alternate perspective, his own (opposed to her's or the police). |

The way I see the song is about a woman who loves a man but they keep fighting. 'In a dark room we fight, make up for our love.' Due to him not understanding her (the way she thinks and her mood swings) but she doesn't even understand herself. 'Understanding myself, understanding myself' He is trying to help her but she keeps hurting him because of it. 'I was speaking soft, see the pain in your eyes,' She doesn't want to hurt him any more so she must leave him and I think this explains their last fight. I think the line 'my love was wasted' means that he is not the one who is right to fix her. |
