| She & Him – In the Sun Lyrics | 5 years ago |
| This song is about the downfall of Zooey's marriage with Ben. His response is Death Cab's "No Room in Frame": "How can I stay / In the sun / When the rain flows / All through my veins / It's true." Essentially, confirming that he had been trying to hide/run from the situation (re: "get the slip") and they failed. Interesting to listen to them side by side like a conversation. | |

| Oh I love this song. It's about BDSM, incorporating elements of boot worship, flogging/whipping, master/slave dynamic, & servitude. I'm sure Lou was a wonderful Dom/Sir in his lifetime. | |

The narrator is in love with the woman he's singing about, but she is unsure of her sexuality, so he won't marry her because she deserves to be in love. "I wish that you were here with me to pass the dull weekend I know it wouldn't come to love, my heroine pretend." Though she is not in love with him, he still wants to spend time with her. When he calls her "my heroine pretend" it is with sadness because he knows that she cannot be his hero, or 'the one' since she is "wayward" about her sexuality, or unsure. I find it clever that he uses baseball as a means to express his situation dealing with sexuality and marriage. That being said, this song is not about baseball, it's about unrequited romantic love since the woman is sexually confused. "Life outside the diamond is a wrench" Life outside the diamond= the complexities of everything between friendship and love |
