| The Radio Dept. – Keen On Boys Lyrics | 8 years ago |

Okay, so I love this song to pieces and I finally managed to dig up an interview where the band talks about it. unfortunately, it's in Chinese, so I have to rely on the usually unreliable Google Translate, but here it is: blog.roodo.com/elv51/archives/16512721.html Cat: how can you be interested in boys? J: So there you have it, this song is gay and there's no denying it. Being gay myself it makes the song that much better in my eyes. |

| Allo, Darlin' – Bright Eyes Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| I love Allo Darlin' + this song and all, but is it just me or does this song (or at least the vocal line) sound a lot like Nothing to be Done by The Pastels? (another amazing song btw) | |
| The Magnetic Fields – Smoke and Mirrors Lyrics | 8 years ago |

Written at the end of a five-year relationship, "Smoke and Mirrors" combines the new-wave classic "Fade to Grey" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMPR6Ujop4k&feature=youtu.be) with my perennial endless-travel motif. I think travel is a natural subject for songs because that's really what music is: mysterious movement. taken from: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/stephin-merritt-my-life-in-15-songs-20151030/smoke-and-mirrors-20151023 |

| The Magnetic Fields – Punk Love Lyrics | 8 years ago |

"I like to think. This song expresses my view of love, at least gay love, as a thing scrappy and amateurish and cobbled together and undignified, and not at all like a glamorous Douglas Sirk movie. It only lasts a minute, getting more and more desperate as it speeds up and the pitch rises, and then it stops abruptly in the middle of a breath, just as it began." from "Stephin Merritt: My Life in 15 Songs" in Rolling Stone mag http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/stephin-merritt-my-life-in-15-songs-20151030/railroad-boy-20151023 |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Flustered/Hey Tomcat! Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Am I the only one who finds this sounds, awesomely, almost exactly like The Books? (If you've never heard of them, I totally recommend checking them out. They're avant-garde, inscrutable, and wholly immersive. Try https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ9W_JZp4EE, or basically any other song.) I've never been able to find a band/song that has the same sort of feel. The disjointedness, the instrumentation, the found recordings... It's amazing. Another reason to love dcfc :) | |
