It seems as though there is a bit of ambiguity involved in the song, for it is acknowledging that forgiveness is a form of suffering yet to suffer with meaning. Since the negativity of suffering is dependent on the attitude towards it, I.e. 'Pain is inevitable, misery is optional', Suffering is a means of utility for one's quality of life. The constantly forgive is not so much a suppression of pain, but rather the freedom from it. The point of forgiveness that it sets the victim free. Forgiveness is for the forgiver and not the perpetrator. |
