"Walls of granite, here I stand" Been trapped in THIS emotionally for a significant amount of time, so basically the guy must have had feelings for this girl for a long time "All my desperate calls Echo off the walls, Back and forth then back again." This tells us that it's not the first time that this guy has confessed his feelings to this girl as his "calls" are described to have "echo(ed) off the walls", but since these are "echoes" then he may not have obviously said it whereas he hinted it multiple times but the girl was unaware of how he feels for her. Every inch revealed as my heart is pierced Oh my soul is now exposed! This section of the song also tells us that he was turned down as it says his "heart is pierced" expressing how deep and strong this guys feelings for the girl are. Long story short, this song is based around the feelings a guys has for a girl, but was too scared to express his feelings to her, but when he did he was either turned down or she had found interest in someone else which could be the alternate implication depending on how pessimistic you find this song and interpret it to be. This then causing him to feel depressed and make him "lost" emotionally and ending the song it tells us that he is trying to cope with these feelings of depression. |
