Right, so this song is from the perspective of a dog, who has a new owner, who enjoys taking him to competitive dog shows. He "met someone at the dog show" she was "holding his right arm" (shake a paw) she proceeds to "race up and down the sidewalk" with him. His internal questions: "Why did they send here over anyone else?" (she's so nice to him, an angel, his protector" "How should I react?" - how can he please her and ensure she stays with him "These things happen to other people" - (he can't believe his luck) "They don't happen (to people) at all, in fact" "When you're following an angel, does it mean you have to throw your body off a building" - she's leading him over a structure to make him jump through a hoop or something. "Someone depending on a pinhead, calling you an angel, calling you the nicest thing" - Though they think he is less intelligent, she is praising him constantly etc... you get it... the "space program/can't hear" is the dog contemplating that he has so much to say but no human can understand him, which is either reassuring or troubling depending on the circumstances. |

Epic thread ressurection above BTW... I think the last verse is a clever play on a binge night of cocaine abuse... Gotta break out (the lines) one weekend.... Every single time I feel little stronger (high) you tell me it's a crime (narcotic possession) how much longer? Blame it on (co) Cain (e) ... (It's addictive properties) don't blame it on me, it's nobody's fault (an addict is also a victim) |
