Aren't the beautiful lyrics the story of what happens in some- maybe more than some- relationships and marriages where the commitment and partnership is so strong at the beginning but perhaps slowly over time hits the rocky shoals and the bonded past is severed with so much heartbreak and trauma for both parties -and really, so many others caught in the crossfire? This is a story seldom brought to the clear light of day but is fought quietly, valiantly and painfully in the courts and in the lonely bedrooms and apartments of the abandoned. |

@[planetvalerina:635] I think you are right about this. This song really hits home for me as I went through a divorce 10 years ago partly because of an affair I had in my marriage. She decided that she needed to end our 26-year marriage , and we had a 12 year daughter caught in the middle. I didn't want the divorce and it hurt like hell for years, even though I got married again after a few years. You're right.. the child is the one who really bears the sacrifice, and both of us miss the family we once had. It can never be the same after something like this happens, and there is great loss for everyone, I think. A tragedy. Still hurts. |
