This song is very fitting for this period of my life. Met this girl roughly a few months ago and we hit it off great from the start. We fell in love, and made promises to each other, even though we live 5 hours apart and can only see each other roughly every 2 weeks. We used to talk on the phone all night every other night and she used to show me so much love, but lately it seems like it's fading probably due to the lack of physically seeing each other. So, in other words, sometimes I feel like the man in the song, like our relationship is drowning and slowly ending and there's nothing I can really do. Love this song. I think it is about a person accepting who they really are, even though it is against social norms, parents, what they've been taught is right, etc. Running away and screaming to try to rid themselves of the voices that tell them to be true to themselves, but they can't. The main character admits that the memories of their life mean nothing to who they are, but at the end they finally admit that these memories are tearing them up. |
