| Spoon – They Want My Soul Lyrics | 11 years ago |

I think that GaryCoolman got the meaning spot on. I just wanted to add that the line "Jonathon Fisk still wants my soul" is a reference to “Jonathon Fisk” a song from Spoon’s fourth LP, 2002’s Kill the Moonlight, based on a bully of lead singer Britt Daniel’s “who would harass [him] on the way home from school in middle school.” According to Daniel, he and the bully whom Fisk was based on eventually made peace, and the former bully “came to all of [Spoon’s] shows for about two or three years," so Fisk still wanting his soul may be a bit of poetic license. |
