Wow, let me first say... What a song. The first time I heard it, I felt my heart rate pick up. This song means a lot to me and I would like to interpret it in my own way. Some of you may agree -- Some of you may not. But, nonetheless, here I go: I believe this song is about a man who has moved many times for love because he cannot stand to be alone, even though he isn't willing to admit that to himself. It's all he's ever known - moving to these different places for these lovers. Somehow, he knows that he will find a reason to go back home because he always gets screwed in the end. Regardless, "There's not a thing I regret. Can't live my life in yesterday." he has learned to overcome these past relationships and try and do things for himself. The biggest thing to me in this song, is that I think he is currently singing about someone in this song and this person actually fell for him - actually loves him but he thinks she will just bring him down like the others. He knows that he means something to someone (this girl) but he feels that doesn't actually know the "real" her. He figures she will just give him another reason to go back home. He's already gone. He's been too damaged prior to all the past. He needs to focus on himself now. I feel the lyrics "She said, Just let it go. She said, It's all you've ever known." is the girl trying to convince him that she won't damage him like other relationships. This is overall my opinion on the song. First reaction to it and whatnot! I may be completely incorrect, but this is what this song means to me. Thanks ADTR, I love this one. |
