To me this is about being left by someone you love for someone physically more appealing, but for no other reasons than that. "I thought that I was framed front and center" makes me think that the narrator was in a relationship where they thought the other person was devoted 100% to them, but in reality was lusting after another person. "Your depth of field is shallow" and "Blind eyes preoccupied with the surface more than the core" lead me to believe that she cheated or left him for this other man who was more physically appealing, though the "core" (personality, etc) may have not been as good as what the narrator saw himself to be. But her beauty remains flawless. He still loves her even though he left him for this muscle bound, GQ-looks oaf. As with every song, open to interpretation. But that is what I get out of this. |
