I think the song is about how the woman is overthinking. How she misinterprets everything her man says. She sees him as a "novel", and his one "thought" starts a "chain" in her mind. She thinks he is attacking her with sarcasm/ mockery. He is telling her that "talk is cheap", and she should not think he is attacking her with everything he says. He wants her to feel "confident" around him rather than always being on her guard and so defensive. It is basically about miscommunication between two people. |
