Phantogram – When I'm Small Lyrics 6 years ago
I hear a woman debating wether or not she wants to stay in a relationship with the person she’s having a baby with. “Lucy’s underground / she’s got a mouth to feed” “underground” is another word for ‘off the grid’ or something that isn’t main stream. I’m this case she means that Lucy is raising a child by herself. The artist is contemplating what she wants although it’s clear she’s leaning towards full on independence regardless of how difficult it will be for her. This is her last cry for help from the man. “Show me love! You’ve got your hand on the button” like fix it and we can be happy. Anyway, that’s just my theory. I’m sure others can come up with something way better

Frank Ocean – Thinkin' Bout You Lyrics 7 years ago
Well I have to say I’m pretty proud of myself for figuring this one out. After all the crap I’ve tried to come up with while interpreting song lyrics, I finally feel confident in my interpretation of one, finally!—eat it:
So it’s obvious this dude is trying to get back with his ex lover under the guise of being a friend. The first verse about the storm is how he’s feeling. The tornado is his emotions that led up to trying to bring this person back into his life. He’s trying to excuse it away like “oops sorry to fuck shit up but while you’re here anyways...” him mentioning Southern California and AZ is his way of saying that his emotions are pretty much under control most of the time and he’s a happy dude but his ex has broken him becuase all these feelings are unusual. The chorus is pretty self explanatory: he’s directing all this questioning to one person, this whole story is a statement to one person but this is the truth rather than what he’s displaying. The chorus is probably the only thing that is super clear in this tumultuous relationship, and that’s that he’s been thinking about them, a lot. Does the other person think about him? Hard to say since the lyrics sound so desperate and insecure. The way the verse “cause I’ve been thinking about forever” is vocalized makes it sound almost like a cry. Like that’s what he’s been dying to say. This might all even be a confession of sorts to this person in hopes of a reunion but it goes on to talk about how he’s lied in the past so who knows if he’d be willing to be this honest about it all now.

The lying is clear in the lyrics
“No I don’t like you I just thought you were cute...
got a beach house I can sell you in Idaho”
He’s saying it was a lie that he didn’t really like them, he’s trying to spare his own feelings and follows it with another lie
“Since you think I don’t love you I thought you were just cool enough to kick it”
Obviously this is what he told this person to get them to hang out again and then
“I got a fighter jet, I don’t get to fly it tho”
Another lie, like the beach house in Idaho part. He didn’t just want to kick it, he’s madly in love.

The last bit is touching. This person was his first love. Everyone remembers their first love. You feel like you will never recover from it and even frank is not immune to those feelings and how crazy they make you. The last part is him describing his undying feelings and that even if they aren’t reciprocated, he’s not letting this go. Its so sad and beautiful. Good song! Do I get an A or what?

Dr. Dog – Where'd All the Time Go? Lyrics 7 years ago
I cannot figure this one out and there is such little interpretation on the web so there’s no help but to me this reads as this chick who is so full of life and terrified of the end, like a lot of young people. She has this need to live life to the fullest because she is so freaked out of it all ending and in that way she kind of brings herself down. The lyrics “she gets dressed up like a pillow so she’s always in bed” is like saying STOP thinking about the end like it’s right around the corner, it doesn’t help anything and that internal struggle has no benefit. Then there’s this guy singing. He doesn’t share her same problems, in fact, he might not care a whole lot about his eventual demise. He seems to be very in the moment and this moment has this girl in it that makes his life so great. She’s worried about the end and he’s just happy to have her until then—soaking up every minute with her knowing that that is what it’s all about. Probably entertained by her so very different interpretation of life.

Yes – I've Seen All Good People: Your Move/All Good People Lyrics 8 years ago
This is about life as a game of chess. It's about not being held hostage by life and fulfilling your desires. It's talks about getting to the corner of your life, in chess that's a castle. "Move me on to any black square/use me any time you want/just remember that the goal/is to capture all we want" i think in this case he's talking to the black queen. "Make the white queen run so fast/she hasn't got time to make you a wife" the opponent is the white side and her capturing you would make you the queen to the other king. Pretty song. It speaks to the adventurous side in all of us and going after what makes us happy

Milky Chance – Stunner Lyrics 11 years ago
This character in the song obviously doesn't have high expectations about himself. Although he wants great things he aims low to end up having the best of a crappy thing. Now this song idolizes a female. Probably because she was unexpectedly great, which let's face it, that's the way love feels. Hard to break it down more because I don't feel like it. That's the jist.
