For me, this is a love song. Flower represents love, and here she keeps saying "paper flowers" meaning that the love is fake and the flower doesn't fade away in her dream land cause it's synthetic. "I linger in the doorway alarm clock screaming monsters calling my name. Let me stay, where the wind will whisper to me, where the raindrops as they are falling tell a story." She stands between her fantasy world and reality, but reality (alarm clock screaming monsters) is too mean, too harsh so she wants to stay in her delusional world. "In my field of paper flowers and candy clouds of lullaby, I lie inside myself for hours and watch my purple sky fly over me." In her delusional world where love didn't leave her, she stays there, nothing seems changing even if in reality time is leaving her. "Don't say I'm out touch, with this rampant chaos you're reality. I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge, the nightmare I built my own world to escape." "Swallowed up in the sound of my screaming, cannot cease for the fear of silent nights. Oh how I long for the deep sleep dreaming, the goodness of imaginary light." Again for me, this is a love song.. And despite her delusional world just prolonging her torment and despair, it is her only savior now.. "The goodness of imaginary light", the goodness of fake salvation, fake hope, fake happiness.. lies |
