Although the singer sounds cold and apathetic, this sound is really about a young man trying to find himself and his family and particular love intrest are constantly riding his ass and not allowing him to grow into who he needs to be in order to survive. He doesn't mention any infidelity or unfaithfulness, so the only plausible reason for him to leave because of the lack of support and beleif the woman has in him. He sings very candidly and it sounds apathetic but he's been down this road several times before. There is a huge feelings of weariness or " here we go again" attitude in his voice when he tells her not to knock down his door with insults. She is holding on, not out of love, but fear which, like him she must go through the troubles of conquering. He warns her to make sure she does it wise. And if it is indeed that easy to move on then there obviously was not much there anyhow. Although he is presumably a bit of a sleeze ball at this time, he is still growing. His apathy is really confidence because he knows he will become who he truely is and no one from before will have to search again.When he comes around, he will come out on top. This song is about growing up and finding our trueselves admist all the criticism and letting go of what hurts us. |

This song is about a young man deeply dedicated to the woman he loves. A woman he has undergone a great deal with.A woman he needs, knows, and has always been there for .As life codly whisped by, shes losing hope in all aspects of living- relationship included. She is obviously emotionally detached as the refrain repeats: "you cant go on thinking nothings wrong,"When he can feel the insidious detachment. She is contemplating leaving for what she thinks is better. His persistence suggests she is adamant about her decision. But he knows wherever she ends up, no one will love and understand her like him. The upbeat melody is in stark contrast to his own heartbreak and pleas/questions regarding her welfare and their relationship. He needs her more than she realizes or perhaps cares. What's most unique about this wonderful song is unlike ,most songs that reflect the singers emtions, he is worried about her stability and emotional state if she leaves. Who's gonna drive you home tonight? A simple question. He needs her even more than she realizes or comprehends. She is too blind and overwhelmed by life to realize these simple questions are his profession of love and plea that she remember who he is and what they had. She doesn't seem to understand and is pushing him away for a seemingly better life. Although he knows shes not thinking straight, he is also not a weak man and understands its ultimately her choice.The first line is a sad warning and plea: Who's gonna tell you wen its too late? A sad song about forgetting what matters most in life and love. |
