| Don Henley – For My Wedding Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Beautiful song, yes. Dark angels? Maybe Henley is referring to his old ways, old habits. He needs to change for this marriage to work and to last. He's committed to it, too. I see some congruent thoughts with this song and "Everything is Different Now" on the same album. |

Someone asked me recently if I were stranded on an island and could have one song only to play, what would it be? After some deliberation, I went with this one. So much variety within one tune and, after all these years, it never seems to wear out or get old. |

| @[morecowbellz:310] Thanks for validating "poker". Seeing "pocker" made me raise an eyebrow. | |

A good tune. Musically complex. I have no answers, but this one always invokes vivid mental imagery to me for some reason. Just a fun one. |

| Paul McCartney – Junk Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
McCartney lyrics are poetry, which makes them open for interpretation and, thus, personally meaningful. What I get from "Junk": My wife and I have been the primary caretakers for three parents who all passed away within 4 years. So many belongings. Nothing extravagant, junk to most people, but treasures to us. Childhood memories, heirlooms, etc. But...what to do with all of it? Estate sales. That's what I see: You can hang on to everything. The bed you jumped on as a kid. The huge antique desk your father refurnished that no sibling can fit in their home. So, it all goes away. Means nothing to the auctioneer, but you can almost feel these junk/treasures of memory crying out in confusion and sorrow. After all, they meant something to somebody...once. |

@[domjohnson:239] I'll verify. Hear him say it myself. "Back in the 60's, we were hearing about some of the problems here in the states with, you know, civil rights and all that. So, I wrote the one to, you know, maybe offer some encouragement and hope." |
