@[theAteam:254] She's deliberately simplifying and twisting people's words about her, almost as if in retaliation. I'm sure that in real life, it really went down in a much more complicated way like that, although it's partly Taylor's fault for making her lyrics so journalistic and hinting at very specific things. That encourages people/the tabloids to read anything at all possible into every one of her songs they can. |

@[theAteam:253] I don't think that it's her "dissing herself"; it's her almost taking on the persona or playing the 'character' of how everyone else sees her. She's much too stable to actually mean she'll do some of this.
There's some bitterness here, though. I get the feeling she's very pissed off and certainly exaggerating the way people portray her, as if to say, "Here, you think I'm crazy/a traitor/jealous? Fine, I'll write a song in that character and show you how someone like that might really act, i.e. that I'm actually human rather than some boyfriend-draining vampire." |

I interpret this song as a generally happy one, where the singer's in a good place. Not necessarily high on drugs, because he says "But it [i.e. 'sometimes'] is not worth it to you/Cause you gotta get high somehow" to the person he's talking to (which might be himself). I think he's actually saying that he feels better off... whatever, drugs, depression, or whatever, than usual, and now he finally feels 'pretty enough'.
Notice he doesn't say "pretty for an hour", but "pretty for another hour or two". That doesn't mean drugs, not necessarily, it could just mean his mood's been up and down. |
