I do not think this is a reference to the classic song, "Oh My Daughter Clementine," rather I agree the meaning is enhanced by the video. The baptism scene at the end is an obvious spiritual reference, possibly overtly Christian, but it seems to mean she changed. The bloodied nose at the end indicating she put up a fight though. I think it's a song of love, she spurned her lovers, they chased and saved her; now she has changed. Yes softer, more like Clementine in Spotless Mind, but still Sarah J. |
